EMERGENCY Campaign:
Portable bomb shelters for Israelis

Emergency Project to Save Lives

by Providing ‘Portable’ Bomb Shelters to Israel

Israel Always is urging support for Operation LifeShield: an emergency campaign to provide portable bomb shelters to Israel beginning with the southern Israeli town of Sderot located on the Gaza border. Almost daily, rockets rain down indiscriminately on the innocent population of Sderot. The citizens of this town never know when another rocket will strike and a precious life (or lives) will be lost. We must act NOW as lives are literally hanging in the balance. When the alert siren sounds, young and old alike must run for shelter and there is generally only a 30 second warning. If people must travel hundreds of feet to reach a shelter, getting there in time may be impossible. Our goal is to turn minutes into seconds andfeet into inches which could mean the difference between life and death. Most of the deaths and injuries from rocket attacks are not so much from direct hits but rather from the ball bearings, nails and other shrapnel packed inside of the rockets. This shrapnel spews for hundreds of yards in all directions tearing through steel, concrete, flesh and bone. The goal of Israel Always is to place a bomb shelter at each of the 54 bus stops in Sderot. Many shelters have already been placed on site but there is still a long way to go to achieve the goal. Once the town of Sderot has been provided with adequate bomb shelters, Israel Always will then concentrate on others areas in need of these shelters such as in the north along the Lebanese border. Affixed at the entrance to each shelter is plaque which bears the name of those persons, organizations or churches responsible for that shelter having been made available. All who enter seeking safety and comfort will know that,

“This shelter was provided by “Your Christian friends of ________________________ (name of your church),”

or

“Your friend(s) __________________________.”

This could be the greatest opportunity ever for Christians and Jews alike to tangibly demonstrate love and support for the people of Israel. What better way to say this than by helping to saves lives.

While we cannot give the people of Israel peace, we can give them peace of mind.
